Race Against Lyme In Stamford Nets $27K

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nearly 300 runners and walkers participated in the Race Against Lyme on Sunday at Cove Island Park in Stamford.

The race raised $27,000 for the Lyme Research Alliance, which helps to raise awareness about the escalating incidence of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. LRA is the leading nonprofit that funds research into Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

Jacob Grice of Stamford won the 5K race in 16:19, the second straight year he finished first. Alex Herzog of Mount Kisco, N.Y., won the women’s division in 21:59. Complete results are online.

The top fundraising award went to Annie and Sara McAndrews, followed by Chelsea Brown. The two teams raised more than $10,000 combined.
