When completed later this year and assembled, the 8-foot walk-through house will be installed in the lobby of the Stamford Government Center for a month.
The public is invited and encouraged to participate.
“HOME” will be made from hundreds of corrugated cardboard ‘siding’ boards. People of all ages and incomes will add their personal words and illustrations to their boards as the project builds and moves through several sites in Stamford, according to a press release.
The project is paid for, in part, by a grant through the City of Stamford. The art project, facilitated and led by artists Susan Fishman of West Hartford and Elena Kalman of Stamford, is being done in collaboration with New Neighborhoods Inc. and the Shelter for the Homeless.
New Neighborhoods Inc. will be celebrating its 50th year in 2017 of developing affordable housing with the power to transform families and neighborhoods in Fairfield County, according to a press release.
The Shelter for the Homeless provides emergency food and shelter for homeless men in lower Fairfield County and support services designed to help them find employment and stable long-term housing, according to a press release.
