Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, based in Port Washington, N.Y., has a goal to collect at least 1,000 pounds of pet food, treats and toys to benefit abandoned cats and dogs.

Adopt-A-Dog of Armonk is part of the effort, which has placed donation boxes throughout Darien, Greenwich, and Stamford.

“After being a part of our efforts to give back on Long Island, I am incredibly excited to be able to lead our efforts in Connecticut and help animals in need here,” Joseph Calamusa, field manager of Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, said in a press release.

Businesses in and around Fairfield County are invited to host a donation box; donations will be collected until Monday, June 1.

Donation pickups are also available.
