Both clinics provide free medical care for low-income Fairfield County residents who do not have health insurance. The grant will help to support those services.

Among the free services offered at the clinics are primary care, diagnostic testing, lab work and medications.

“We are delighted to receive this generous grant from Near & Far Aid,” Stamford-based AmeriCares Free Clinics Executive Director Karen Gottlieb said. “We rely on donations from local foundations, corporations and area residents to sustain our operations. It is truly a community coming together to help our neighbors in need.”

Near & Far Aid, based in Southport, depends on volunteers and fundraisers to provide grants such as the one recently gifted to the Bridgeport and Norwalk clinics. The organization has donated more than $200,000 to AmeriCare Free Clinics since 1998.
