Letter: Stamford Lawmaker Supports Improvements At DMV

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Daily Voice welcomes signed, original letters to the editor. Email them to stamford@dailyvoice.com

To the Editor;

In December, I had to switch registrations for three cars at the Norwalk DMV. Normally, this would be a rather dreadful process. However, I found it to be refreshingly easy, and I would like to inform all of you of the different options in place to improve your experiences at the DMV.

Over the past two years, the DMV has made many forms available to you online. The availability of these online forms eliminates clerical errors because the form is typed instead of handwritten. They can be downloaded in PDF form and viewed on your computer. The DMV has highlighted fields that indicate where information needs to be filled out. Now, the only thing left to do is print out the forms and bring them to the DMV nearest to you.

By filling out the form ahead of time, you save yourself from having to fill out the form at the DMV. This streamlines the process and allows for quick service through the line. The DMV has also expanded its options for payment. Rather than just accepting cash and checks, they’ve expanded to accepting major credit and debit cards. You can view all acceptable forms of payment here.

In short, the DMV has really changed its image. It is now more customer-service oriented and is moving into the digital age by providing some of the most popular forms online. This not only saves you time, but completely transforms your experience at the DMV. I encourage all of you to go online and explore the different forms that are there and take advantage of them. You can view the forms here.

I encourage you to stay connected and stay informed! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns on this or any issue, I would really like to hear from you!  Please call my office at 1-800-842-1423 or visit my website.

State Rep. Michael Molgano, R-Stamford
