Joyce Ackerman, 68, Stamford Travel Agent

STAMFORD, Conn. – Joyce Ackerman of Stamford died April 23 after a brief battle with breast cancer. She was 68. 

An award-winning travel agent for many years, Ackerman was known for her elaborate itineraries.  

She was born June 15, 1943, in Natick, Mass., to the late Rita Renning and Philip Renning. Her greatest joy was spending time with her twin granddaughters, Rachel and Jamie.

Ackerman is survived by her husband, Marshall; a son, Jeff (Staci) Ackerman, her mother-in-law, Dorothy Ackerman; father-in-law, Joseph Ackerman; a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and two granddaughters. 

Funeral services will take place at noon Friday at Temple Beth El in Stamford. Shiva will be observed Saturday evening at 121 Thornwood Road in Stamford and Sunday evening at 500 Country Club Drive in Cherry Hill, N.J. Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford is handling arrangements.
