The event, put on every year by the Halloween Yacht Club, has raised more than $30,000 for veterans at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Of the participants, 35 were either wounded or disabled veterans who reside in Fairfield County and 10 were active military members.

“The members of the Halloween Yacht Club are very proud of this uplifting event, its positive impact on our veterans and the support of the community and local businesses for donations that aid families of our soldiers at Walter Reed as they recover from traumatic injuries,” said tournament Chairman Pat Buzzeo.

Chris Broadbent's Broad Star boat caught both winning fish in the tournament. Air Force veteran Katherine Swenson caught a 32-pound, 43-inch bass, and a nine-pound bluefish was caught by another participant. A member of the Mianus River Boat & Yacht Club in Cos Cob, Broadbent was participated in every tournament.
