Robyn 'Rihanna" Fenty, who was schooled for a short time in Stamford, turns 26 on Thursday. The Singer, songwriter, actress and fashion designer was born February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Rihanna's began her career through her association with American record producers Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers in late 2003.

Her debut album, Music of the Sun (2005) and its follow-up A Girl Like Me (2006) both peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart

Her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) and its chart-topping lead single "Umbrella" were major breakthroughs in her career that brought her to widespread prominence. The album and its Reloaded version (2008) produced the worldwide hit singles "Don't Stop the Music", "Take a Bow", and "Disturbia".

She has also released studio album, Rated R, in November 2009 and followed by three more albums: Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), and Unapologetic(2012). Her work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, 22Billboard Music Awards, and two BRIT Awards. She has sold over 30 million albums and 120 million singles worldwide, which makes her one of the best-selling artists of all time.

She has achieved thirteen number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the youngest and fastest solo artist to achieve the feat. Billboard named her the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s decade and the top Hot 100 artist of the 2010s decade.

She starred as Petty Officer (GM2) Cora Raikes in her first theatrical feature film Battleship, released on May 18, 2012 and also appeared in Katy Perry: Part of Me.

In 2012, Forbes ranked her the fourth most powerful celebrity of the year and TIME named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Her first television program, Styled to Rock, premiered in the UK in August 2012 on Sky Living. In February 2013, she presented her first women's spring fashion collection at London Fashion Week for British street fashion brand River Island.

On November 24, 2013, she was presented with the first ever American Music "Icon" Award.

In December 2013, it was announced that Rihanna is set to be the new face of the forthcoming spring/summer 2014 campaign - in magazines from January - of the French fashion house Balmain.
