David Brian Cone turns 50 on Thursday.

David Brian Cone, who has owned a home in Stamford, turns 50 on Thursday. The former baseball pitcher was born January 2, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri.

David Brian Cone was drafted by his hometown Kansas City Royals in the third round of the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft.

During a 17-year baseball career, he pitched from 1986–2003 for five different teams. He pitched the sixteenth perfect game in baseball history and also set the MLB record for most years between 20-win seasons.

He was a member of five World Series championships, in  1992 with the Toronto Blue Jays and in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000 with the New York Yankees. He has an 8–3 career postseason record over 21 starts, with an ERA of 3.80.

He is the subject of the book A Pitcher's Story: Innings With David Cone by Roger Angell and his fans are known as "Cone-Heads."

He currently lives in Stamford, CT. and is a color commentator for the Yankees on the YES Network.
