Franklin Street Community Center Hosts Health Fair For Stamford Immigrants

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A variety of health services and useful tips on diet, exercise and lifestyle activities will be available from as part of “Health Day,” an event co-hosted by Franklin Street Community Health Center and Building One Community.

The event will be held Thursday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Building One Community, 75 Selleck St. in Stamford.

The event is designed to provide Stamford’s immigrant population with important medical and dental services. Services offered will include:

  • Dental cleaning and application of fluoride sealants
  • HIV testing
  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Vision screening
  • Healthy cooking demonstrations

Information on nutrition, diabetes, hypertension, sexually transmitted diseases and access to health care services will also be available and CHC medical staff will be present to answer questions. A CHC Access to Care Coordinator will be on hand to help qualified people apply for state medical insurance.

On March 24, CHC will provide additional dental hygiene appointments for a fee by contacting Wendy Cardenas at 203-674-8585 x106.

CHC and Building One Community have worked together over the past five years to improve health and wellness for Stamford area immigrants who often lack access to quality health care services.
