Former UConn Star to Teach Stamford Kids

STAMFORD, Conn. — Rookie guard Kemba Walker has more free-time than expected this fall with professional basketball’s season in jeopardy. He is spending one those days at the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford in September.

The former UConn Star will be teaching kids ages 7 to 15 basic basketball fundamentals as part of All Pro Sports Basketball Clinic, a press release said. In addition to playing with Walker, the kids will receive signed pictures of him and listen to motivational speaker Steven Emt’s presentation, “Positive Choices.”

“We are thrilled to have Kemba visit our club. It will be a real thrill for these kids — a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Michael Cotella, executive director at the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford, said in the release.

Walker led the Huskies to the National Championship this past spring, and was drafted ninth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats.

The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 25. It is $60 per ticket to participate in Walker’s camp, but free for members of the Boys and Girls Club. To register visit the camp’s website, or call 860-292-6311.
