The program, which was launched in 2010, provides students who need additional academic or social support with the resources and guidance required to be successful during middle school, high school and in college and career endeavors.
For the 2015-16 school year, SPEF provided mentoring services to 736 students in grades three through12, a 52 percent increase over last year.
More than 300 mentors were engaged to support the programs.
“The Stamford Public Education Foundation has built a strong reputation for funding and operating school-based programs that connect college, community and corporate volunteers with Stamford Public School students,” Matthew Quinones, chief executive officer at SPEF, said. “Educational enrichment for families and children is one of the areas that First County Bank Foundation supports, and we are appreciative it has once again selected SPEF to be a recipient of its generosity. Because our programs are delivered at no cost to the Stamford Public School District, it is critical to receive donations such as this from our community partners.”
