Hanson brings to the board more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. He currently serves as group president for New Jersey-based Covidien, responsible for all company global business segments.

“I am so proud to join the AmeriCares Board and work with this important humanitarian organization to build healthier futures for people in crisis and make sustainable health improvements in their communities,” Hanson said in a statement. “I had the opportunity to join the AmeriCares airlift to Nicaragua and saw, firsthand, how this organization supports local clinics and hospitals that care for people in need. I look forward to collaborating with the AmeriCares team to help further this important work.”

At Covidien, Hanson directs all strategic and day-to-day operations to drive business development and innovation for the company’s medical devices and medical supplies, as well as its emerging markets and developed markets business segments.
