Downtown Stamford Moves to Fill Retail Space

STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford’s Downtown District is looking to fill empty store space with its 2011 Retail Advancement Program.

A grant of up to $50,000 from Stamford Downtown will be matched by a $50,000 contribution from landlords to assist qualified applicants who sign a five-year lease, a Stamford Downtown Special Services District press release said.

Only street-level space inside the district will qualify for the program. Applicants must be product retail to be eligible, the release said. Non-retail applicants such as entertainment, restaurants, and service are excluded.

For more information about the Retail Advancement Program, contact Jacqueline Wetenhall, director of retail development for Stamford Downtown, (203) 348-5285, or visit the district’s Website for more details and an application.
