Doctors Teach Lessons At Stamford Hospital's Mini Medical School Program

STAMFORD, Conn. - Stamford Hospital will once again offer its free weekly Mini Medical School program with the spring semester running from April 8 through May 13.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Tully Health Center Brace Auditorium, located at 32 Strawberry Hill Court in Stamford.

This weekly educational series is free and open to the public. Each session mimics the structure of the medical school experience with a different physician presenting information focused on a particular topic each week.

The sessions cover the anatomy, function, common disease states and available treatments. All participating physicians are board-certified in their specialty and considered leaders in their fields.

The schedule for the spring session is:

  • April 8: Kidneys – How they function and how they do not, with Dr. William Hines.
  • April 22: Cardiac emergencies and American Heart Associations’ “compression only” CPR technique, with Dr. Thomas Nero.
  • April 29: Neurology with Dr. Peter McAllister.
  • May 6: Sleep Medicine with Dr. Dominic Roca.
  • May 13: Palliative Care Medicine with Dr. Ann Brewer.
