County Habitat Group Honors Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County honored the City of Stamford and the Community Bridgebuilders Coalition last month for helping with its first project in Stamford .

The organization opened its West Main Street townhouses at the beginning of the year. It was able to get the land with help from the city and Timothy Beeble , director of the city's Community Development Office, a press release said.

“The significance of having housing built throughout all sectors of our economy and for all affordability components is important to our community and is what makes Stamford the rich city that it is,” Mayor Michael Pavia said at Habitat's 13th Annual Hearts and Hammers Gala last month in Greenwich, according to the release.

The March 10 gala also brought in over $145,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County , which works to transform communities and improve the lives of low-income families, the release said. Some 250 guests enjoyed a night of dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions, the release said.
