Youth Mountain Biking Teams Forming Across Fairfield County

GREENWICH, Conn. -- While everyone is cleaning up the snow, three Fairfield County regional Mountain Bike (MTB) teams are planning spring practices in various locations, the first in Greenwich.

The Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP) will support three Fairfield County MTB teams that begin practices in the spring. 

The event is sponsored by the Fairfield County Youth Cycling Team (FCYCT).

The program's goals are to provide young people a chance to flourish in cycling, learn good bike handling skills, work in a team based setting and travel with others to local or regional cycling events.

The fee for each rider is $299 per program. Each participant receives a team jersey and racing license

Click here for more information. Boys and girls age 10 to 18 and interested parents are welcome. 

  • Greenwich starts practices April 5, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5 p.m. at Mianus Parks. Other locations will be announced weekly.
  • Norwalk Cranbury Park Norwalk practices Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting April 5 and 7, 4- 5 p.m. at Mianus Parks and various other locations to be announced weekly. 
  • Newtown serves families in the greater Danbury area and has a 12 week program at Collis P. Huntington State Park staring  March 16 every Saturday from 8:30-11 a.m.
  • FCYCT practices will be on Wednesdays starting April 6 at Cranbury Park in Norwalk and on Saturdays during the three month period when there are not other East Coast MTB races.The FCYCT is supported by Outdoor Sports Center of Wilton.
