Josh is a documentarian-cum-teacher (who has spent the past 10 years working on his second film); Cornelia is a producer (who works for her father, an accomplished documentarian). As Josh and Cornelia drift rudderless in the sea of mid-life their other (same-aged) friends all seem to be having children and doing “parent things” (all the while encouraging Josh and Cornelia to “get busy” having kids of their own).

They gravitate toward a young hipster couple named Jamie (an aspiring documentary filmmaker) and Darby, who makes ice cream (Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried) who audit Josh’s film class.

Josh and Cornelia begin enjoying the energy from the younger couple, who are hipsterly retro in their haphazard approach to life. Jamie constantly plays up to Josh, plying on Josh’s ego, and need to be a mentor and feel himself to be “worthy” all the while edging himself closer into leveraging Josh and his contacts (including Josh’s father-in-law (Wilton's Charles Grodin), and his contacts into placing himself into the catbird seat.

Even the slow-witted Josh begins to puzzle things out, eventually beginning to suspect that his new BFF might not be as straightforward and trustworthy as he had initially believed.

The Avon Theater is located at 272 Bedford St., Stamford.

"While We’re Young" is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour 46 minutes. It stars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Driver, and Peter Yarrow, and is directed by Noah Baumbach.
