Stamford Hospital Celebrates 11 Women Who Stepped Up To Health Challenge

STAMFORD, Conn., -- The Westchester-Fairfield chapter of the American Heart Association will celebrate 11 women who were chosen to participate in the Go Red “BetterU Challenge” sponsored by Stamford Hospital.

The event will celebrate their commitment and achievement following the 12-week healthy lifestyle change program.

The event will be held at the Brace Auditorium at the Tully Health Center at 32 Strawberry Hill Court in Stamford from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday. 

BetterU is a free healthy lifestyle improvement program. Each week focused on a different area of heart health and provided step-by-step guidance for the participants.

Each participant received: free baseline and 12-week medical evaluations provided by experts from Stamford Hospital and a free 12-week membership to Stamford Hospital’s Tully Center Fitness Center, including personal training, free nutrition, cooking demonstrations and heart health seminars tools, resources and inspiration.

All women are invited to join GoRedForWomen.org online to learn about their risk for heart disease and takes steps to improve their heart health. Heart disease takes the life of one in three women. Studies show that 80 percent of cardiac events in women are preventable with simple lifestyle choices involving diet, exercise and smoking.
