National Report: Connecticut Residents Near Top Of The Education Class

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — A new study reports that Connecticut is the home to the third most-educated population in the nation, just behind Massachusetts and Maryland residents.

According to a 2018 report by the personal finance website WalletHub, Connecticut has the third highest percentage of residents who hold graduate or professional degrees.

Connecticut ranks fourth for percentage of bachelor’s degrees and sixth for average university quality, the report states.

With enrollment in high education increasing by more than 5 million since 2000, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 15 key metrics. The data set ranges from share of adults aged 25 or older with at least a high school diploma to gender gap in educational attainment.

Connecticut scored 71.90 to Maryland’s 76.54 and Massachusetts’ 81.92.

Rounding out the top 10 most-educated states were: Vermont, Colorado, Virginia, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Washington and New Jersey.
