“So many people say, ‘I loved you in Jersey Boys, but I loved this show,' ” J. Robert Spencer, who portrayed Nick Massi in the Tony award-winning musical, said of thier fans' reaction to the Midtown Men during autograph signings after shows. Spencer is joined by Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria and Daniel Reichard in Midtown Men.

Spencer described Midtown Men as nothing like “Jersey Boys,” which tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, where this venture is more of a concert with four best friends performing hit songs from the 1960s.  Attendees will also get to learn about the vocal group as they share memories of the songs they sing and stories of their journey, he said.

The four performers got the idea to go out on their own, while still working on “Jersey Boys.” They received offers to sing elsewhere, even though they wouldn’t be able to do songs from that show. Spencer said they realized that people of all generations love the music of the 1960s and have memories associated to the music.

“At the end of every show there are so many standing ovations and so many screams,” he said, adding that they are all thankful for their time on the Broadway show for giving them notoriety and the opportunity, “People are going to come and sit down and be like ‘Wow!' ”

The show will be at the Palace Theater, 61 Atlantic St., on May 17 with tickets ranging from $42 to $55. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and run 90 minutes without an intermission.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Stamford Center for the Arts box office at 203-325-4466.
