Christopher Gerasimopoulos was stunned after winning the prize on a “$3,000,000 Royale” Instant Ticket, according to a statement from the CT Lottery.

“I have no words right now,” he said. “It’s funny, I rarely buy the $30 games. I had the day off – happened to be in the area and got this ticket. I had the clerk check (the ticket) – it was bizarre.”

After celebrating with a large winner’s check, Gerasimopoulos,  said he kept the winning ticket close to his chest while traveling to the CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.

“I had this ticket on me at all times,” he said. “I slept with it – I have animals and thought, ‘What if the dog eats it?’”

The lotto winner said he has big plans for the money.

“All my debt is gone – student loans, car loans – gone,” he said. He now plans to take care of his family and facilitate his career in the health and wellness industry.

The Derby Mart at 49 Elizabeth St., Derby, collected a $3,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
