WESTPORT, Conn. --- Ever wondered how to make the perfect sauce?
Now you can, thanks to Ramin Ganeshram. Her new book, co-authored with Lorilynn Bauer, The Art of the Perfect Sauce, is out in January. But you can order it now as a special gift (read to the bottom for details).
Unlike other cookbooks which are meal or ingredient focused this book is for sauces only, explained Ganeshram, a Westport resident.
That means readers can turn what they know and feel comfortable making into something totally new "with relatively little effort, time expenditure and ingredient cost."
So, let's cut to the chase. What IS the perfect sauce?
"From my perspective, there are two secrets: patience and the right thickener," said Ganeshram.
"Sauces are thickened in a variety of ways and knowing how to use thickeners from flour to cornstarch to simple reduction is the key to success."
The book, she said, gives very detailed how to's both in the Techniques section and in each recipe.
"The goal is for people to be able to easily learn the process of sauce making so they can repeat it with their own favorite ingredients at any time," she said.
As for getting the book, Ganeshram is happy to send a signed bookplate and postcard featuring the recipe for Guinness Chocolate Sauce to folks to wrap for gift-giving.
The book comes on Jan. 2 but pre-orders are available. Send a direct message to the book's Facebook page at facebook.com/sauceart or to their Instagram account: @saucyarts.
