NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Docomomo U.S. invites you to visit the historic sites in New Canaan and Stamford as part of its seventh annual "Tour Day" this weekend.

Docomomo, which is a shorthand for the International Committee for the Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods of the Modern Movement, will host guided tours of several modern homes in New Canaan, the Glass House in New Canaan and the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford.

Free, docent-led tours will be given at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 1101 Bedford St., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also known as "The Fish Church," a panel of experts moderated by Kyle May, principal at Abrahams May Architects and Editor in Chief of CLOG, will discuss the architectural, structural and religious significance of the building at 1 p.m.

Also on Saturday, the New Canaan Historical Society will lead tours of New Canaan modern homes designed by such architects as Ulrich Franzen, Gates and Ford, Hugh Smallen, and John Johansen. Participants will travel on vans accompanied by an architect.

In each home an architect will discuss architectural features and present information about the architect.

The tour costs $275 per person and takes place from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. It includes continental breakfast and lunch. Proceeds support the Society’s preservation program.

Click here to register for the tour or call (203) 966-1776.

On Sunday, Docomomo members are eligible for a $15 discount off the cost of admission to Phillip Johnson's Glass House site tours on Sunday.

The Glass House is located at 199 Elm St. in New Canaan.
