NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Any way you flip it, the burger is one of America’s favorite foods. We asked for your top picks in the county; five finalists are in the running with each being profiled this week.

What Makes It Patty Perfect: The burger at Gates is made with a 28-day dry aged blend of brisket, short rib and chuck. It is topped with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion and served on a brioche bun. 

At lunchtime, Gates offers two additional styles: BBQ and M&O. The BBQ style is topped with Swiss, crispy fried onions and housemate BBQ sauce while the M & O is topped with sautéed mushrooms, crispy onions and Swiss cheese.
