STAMFORD, Conn. -- Access Health CT is inviting community organizations and leaders to a Community Chat on Thursday in the Stamford Government Center cafeteria, 888 Washington Blvd., from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

AHCT Staff will provide an overview of the accomplishments of Connecticut’s insurance exchange program and lead a discussion on ways AHCT can help bring quality, affordable healthcare to more residents of the Stamford community.

“Community Chats offer a direct line of communication to the state’s healthcare exchange—and another opportunity to get feedback on the enrollment process,” said Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman. “Expanding awareness is key to bolstering enrollment, creating healthier communities and further reducing Connecticut’s uninsured rate.”

Access Health CT hopes to use the Community Chats as a way to educate community leaders and organizations about the exchange so they can promote AHCT’s mission to the constituents and communities it serves, and to establish long-term relationships with the community.

Open Enrollment starts Nov. 1, and goes through Jan. 31. Since 2013, over 550,000 Connecticut residents have obtained quality, affordable healthcare coverage through Access Health CT.

“Open enrollment is a crucial time for Connecticut residents who are looking to enroll in a new insurance plan or for those who need to renew their current plan,” said Access Health CT CEO Jim Wadleigh. “Our Community Chats program gives us the opportunity to engage community leaders in getting the word out about Open Enrollment and the ways that members of their community can benefit from shopping on the state’s exchange.”

Many Connecticut residents are still unaware that AHCT offers free, in-person application assistance and that financial help is available to those who qualify.
