Stamford-Based World Affairs Forum Offers Talk On 'Iran In Context'

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Erica Ehrenberg, executive director of the American Institute of Iranian Studies for the past decade, will give a talk at the Greenwich Library on "Iran in Context" as part of the Stamford-based World Affairs Forum.

Her speech will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the Cole Auditorium of the Greenwich Library, 101 W. Putnam Ave. Co-sponsored by the Greenwich Library, it is part of the Great Decisions Presentation of the World Affairs Forum. The event is free. 

Ehrenberg is an expert on Iran, a country of significant importance to America's foreign policy. She holds a bachelor's degree from Yale and a doctorate in Near Eastern Art and Archaeology from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. In addition to lecturing worldwide, she has published scholarly articles and books and has excavated in the Aegean, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, according to the World Affairs Forum. 

In her current role, Ehrenberg draws on her study of the long history of Persia to foster person-to-person connections and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Iran. Ehrenberg has traveled to advance scholarly collaborations in Persian Studies in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as Iran, and has participated in global forums on intercultural and interfaith communication. She is co-editing a volume of papers on the history and development of Iranian Studies in the U.S.

Since 1967, the American Institute of Iranian Studies has served as the main conduit for academic and cultural exchange between Iran and the U.S., and is the only organization in the country dedicated to funding research in Iranian Studies. Its objective is to further the study of Iran as a significant component of global history.

The World Affairs Forum is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to expanding understanding of global affairs and America's role in the world. The Forum is an affiliate of the World Affairs Councils of America.
