What's Happening In Stamford This Weekend

Friday, Aug. 3

Friday Flicks: 2 p.m. Take the kids to see the Disney classic, “The Lion King.” The film is rated G and runs 88 minutes. Ferguson Library, downtown, 1 Library Plaza.

Outdoor Adventures: Things With Wings Hike: 7 p.m. Learn about bats, lightning bugs, owls and more while searching for them through the trails. The hike is recommended for children 6 and up, and is $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers. of the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road.

Saturday, Aug. 4

Desert Rain Trio: 1 p.m. Several bands, including the Desert Rain Trio, will perform to support the Food Bank of Ashford. Hilton Stamford Hotel, 1 First Stamford Place.

East Side Day: 1 p.m. Stamford residents are invited to Domus for the annual event, which will feature career workshops, music and more. The event is open to everyone and free to attend. Domus, 83 Lockwood Ave.

Sharkey Laureno Memorial Tournament: 1 p.m. The annual baseball tournament will start to help raise money for college scholarships which are given to graduates of Stamford Babe Ruth Baseball. All games will be played at Cubeta Stadium at Scalzi Park.

Sunday, Aug. 5

Summertime Mindful Trail Walk: 10 a.m.  A reflection walk will help people learn a new way to enjoy nature. The event is recommended for people 15 and over and costs $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, 151 Brookdale Place.

Art and Nature Lecture Series: 3 p.m. Learn how art and nature are intertwined from the artists featured in the exhibits at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens. This is the first part of the series and is free to attend. It will be held in doors. Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, 151 Brookdale Place.

Summer Sunday Evening Concert: 5 p.m. Katie Wilson and the Two Time String Band will be performing at a weekly concert series. The performance is on rain or shine, and will be outside if weather permits. Attendance is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers, and children 12 and under are free. Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, 151 Brookdale Place.
