Darien Summer Night Concert. 6 to 9 p.m. Chasing Day will perform as part of the summer series. Band members Michael Penfield and Frank Piazza live in Darien. Their sound is Aspen meets Nashville with acoustic guitars and harmonies. Chasing Day has released one album of original music and plays a blend of original music and covers. 90th Annual Round Hill Highland Games. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy traditional Highland dancing, drum major, piping and drumming competitions, pipe band competitions, Scottish country dancing, heavy athletic competitions, races and amateur sports for the whole family, children’s games & crafts, and Scottish food & drink. 'Alice' Plus 'War Stars:' 2 and 7 p.m. The WCSU Department of Theatre Arts will present “Alice in Wonderland,” which follows the classic children’s tale but with an experimental twist and special focus on movement. "War Stars: An Unauthorized Parody" will be making its debut after the 7 p.m. "Alice" show. "Alice" tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 16 and under, or $40 for a family pack. For "War Stars," admission is $10 or free for those with tickets to the 7 p.m. "Alice" show. "Alice" repeats at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Summer Reading Kick-Off Sock Hop. 6 to 8 p.m. A real 1950s Sock Hop will feature hula-hoop contests, a ’50s trivia program, and an Elvis look-alike contest along with rocking tunes of the era. Enjoy some retro snacks and look for fun giveaways, too. So put on your saddle shoes and poodle skirts, your Elvis costumes and head on down to the Hop. For grades K and up with caregivers. Dave Mason In Concert. 8 to 9:30 p.m. English-born David Thomas "Dave" Mason, who first found fame with the rock band Traffic, makes his third appearance here. The proceeds from this concert will help to underwrite the free music and performances at the Levitt Pavilion on this Green. Tickets are $45 or $35 for seniors/students. Sound Science. 1:30 to 4 p.m. Explore Long Island Sound with the Seaside Center naturalists and assist in collecting species inventory data. Participants get hands-on experience collecting and identifying marine animals and plants while learning how to use various collection tools and scientific instruments. Bruce Museum spearheads this collaborative program. Participation is free, but a Town of Greenwich beach pass is required for entry. Greenwich Point Park, Greenwich.
Burning of Fairfield Walking Tour. 4 to 6 p.m. Stroll back in time to explore the history and events surrounding the attack on Fairfield by the British on July 7, 1779. View significant sites on the historic Town Green and listen to first-person accounts read by costumed interpreters. Cost is $8 per person. Call 203-259-1598 to register.
