The Birth Of Jesus Taking Stage At Stamford First Methodist

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A re-enactment of Jesus' birth is coming to Stamford this weekend.

A live Nativity scene will be performed Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Stamford.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, there will be a live Nativity scene, with children performing the roles of Mary, Joseph, the Three Wise Men and the shepherds at First Methodist Church.

In addition, there will be llamas, goats, sheep, chickens and pigeons for the service. Use of the animals is being donated by Eden Farms, and local families.

Members of the church will read verses from the Gospel of Luke, describing the plight of the Holy Family in their search for a place for Mary to give birth, eventually ending up in a manger with livestock. 

The First United Methodist Handbell Choir will perform and everyone is encouraged to join in singing Christmas carols. 

Refreshments will be served in the church lounge following the service.

The performance will be at 2 p.m. on the church grounds, 42 Cross Road, Stamford.
