Stamford's World Affairs Forum Hosting Event On U.S.-Cuba Relations

STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford's World Affairs Forum is holding a presentation on the future of U.S.- Cuba relations on Wednesday, March 18, at the main branch of the Ferguson Library.

The presentation, called "The Future of U.S. - Cuba Economic Relations: Obama Has Opened the Door, but is Raul Castro Willing to Enter?" will be led by Ted Henken, an associate professor of sociology and Latin American studies at CUNY Baruch. 

Networking and refreshments will be held from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m., followed by the presentation and question and answer session from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the third floor auditorium of the main branch located at 1 Public Library Plaza.

Henken’s latest book, "Entrepreneurial Cuba: The Changing Policy Landscape," co-authored with Canadian economist Archibald R.M. Ritter, was published in January. He is also the author of the blog, "El Yuma."

He is president ex-officio of the Association for the Study of Cuban Economy and is frequently interviewed by leading international newspapers and media outlets on Cuba, including The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, CNBC, the AP, Reuters, The Miami Herald, NPR, The Wall Street Journal and the BBC's "The World" program, among others.

He has also served as a consultant about Cuba for Freedom House, The Boston Red Sox, CNN and the U.S. Department of State.

Henken holds a doctorate from Tulane University's Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies.
