Stamford's Avon Theatre's Oscar Party Features Work By 'Danish Girl' Artist

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Avon Theatre will display art from Gerda Wegener at its Oscar night party Sunday.

Wegener's art will be on display courtesy of the Leonard Fox Ltd. collection. Fox is an art gallery owner and rare book dealer based in Greenwich.

Wegener and her wife, Lili Elbe were the subjects of the Oscar-nominated film "The Danish Girl." Both Alicia Vikander and Eddie Redmayne were nominated for their portrayals of Wegener and Elbe, respectively.

Festivities will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres. The telecast of the red carpet arrivals begins at 7 p.m. and the Academy Awards begin at 8:30 p.m.

A gourmet buffet dinner from Giovanni Gentile, owner of Bar Rosso, will be served after the award for Best Supporting Actor is announced.
