The screening is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the center, 272 Bedford St. in Stamford, according to a press release. SUNY Purchase's Anne Kern is set to lead a post-film Q&A.
"The innovations of the French New Wave were many, but one was the uncorking of sheer joy: joy in youth, joy in rule-breaking, joy in cinema," representatives wrote in the release. "No film of the era is more blissful than Jacques Demy's 'LOLA,' a bittersweet ode to first loves and missed opportunities."
Kern is the associate professor of Cinema Studies at Purchase College. She received her doctorate in film studies and comparative literature from Yale University, and has published on European and American cinema, surrealism and psychoanalysis, according to the release.
Tickets for the screening are free for carte blanche members, $6 for members & AFG, $8 for students and seniors and $11 for nonmembers. Residents are asked to call the Avon box office at 203-967-3660, ext. 2 for tickets.
