STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Senior Center and SliverSource are out to prove that it's never too late to date by hosting a movie screening and speed dating event.
The community is invited to attend the free movie screening on Friday, Feb. 19, of "The Age of Love," a new documentary that follows the illuminating adventures of 30 older adults who attend a first-of-its-kind speed dating event exclusively for 70 to 90-year-olds.
Presented by SilverSource and the Stamford Senior Center, this alternately poignant and funny film will be shown at 2 p.m. in the Franklin Auditorium at the Stamford Senior Center, located at 888 Washington Blvd. Refreshments will be served.
“This ground-breaking film is appealing to everyone,” said Christina Crain, executive director of the Stamford Senior Center. “The seniors that appear in "The Age of Love" are just as nervous about dating at this stage of life as they were for their first date. By understanding this generation before the Baby Boomers, we will find lessons for us all.”
The Senior Speed Dating event for those between the ages of 70 and 90 will be held on Friday, March 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to meet a number of eligible singles in a safe and comfortable environment at the Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien.
“Older adults still want to make connections and have relationships,” said Kathleen Bordelon, executive director of SilverSource. “By presenting this touching, comical and truly entertaining film, as well as a hosting a local Speed Dating event, we’re challenging the stereotypes of people in the autumn of their lives.”
A $10 registration fee is required to join in the fun and refreshments will be served.
