“I started this feast 10 years ago to help keep the traditions of my family and those of my Italian community alive,” Antoinette Mallozzi said in a news release. “Not only is it important for my generation to continue these customs, but it is even more important for our children and later generations to understand where they have come from.”

The feast is a celebration of the Madonna, Maria Santissima delle Grazie, the patron saint of the Minturno district in Italy. During Sagra Delle Regne, the Madonna is taken on a procession through the street and is blessed before returning to the church.

“Our Sagra Delle Regne here in Stamford is a mini-version of what is happening the same day back in our hometown of Minturno,” Mallozzi said.

The celebration will start at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., with a procession, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. It will then move to the Italian Center, 1620 Newfield Ave., for a picnic.

To reserve a spot at the picnic call Tony Rizzi at 203-912-1122 or 203-323-8603.
