STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Spartan Kids Race will take over Mill River Park Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mill River Park will be home to thousands of Stamford’s kids looking to experience the world’s leading obstacle race.

Nearly 3,000 kids and families are currently registered.

The race is sponsored by Mill River Park, Home Depot, Sheraton Hotels, Chelsea Piers Connecticut, Boys & Girls Clubs, Hearst Newspapers, Nestle Waters, Clif Bar, Panasonic, NBC Sports, Whole Foods, Stamford Mayor David Martin’s Office, the JCC and Stamford Public Schools.

With 2K and 4K heats and over 15 obstacles to conquer, the Reebok Spartan Kids Race will instill child-like adventure, courage, camaraderie and a sense of accomplishment for children ages 5-13.

There will also be a heat for the “Special Spartans” -- athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and those with cognitive learning or vocational delays.

All finishers will receive a free Spartan T-shirt and finisher’s medal.
