STAMFORD, Conn. — Boy Scout and Cub Scout units from Stamford plan a day of fun and activities at the Scalzi Park Picnic Area on Saturday, Sept. 17, to show families of boys what Scouting is all about.

The free event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to the public. It will be held between the tennis and volleyball courts.

This Recruitment and Adventure Day is a chance to meet local Scouting leaders and the boys from Stamford’s numerous units.

Activities include rain-gutter regatta races, an obstacle course, water balloon tosses, and fitness events of Cub Scouts-age boys.

Boy Scout-age stations include knots and lashings, first aid, fire building and outdoor cooking.

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. Scouting builds character, trains boys citizenship and leadership, and emphasizes personal fitness. BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities with lifelong values, memories, and fun. This is your chance to find out what Scouting is all about.
