Police School Crossing Guard In Dorchester Accused Of Raping Child

Authorities arrested a Boston police school crossing guard earlier this week and charged him with raping a child.

David Spiers, who worked in Dorchester, is on administrative leave following his arrest on Tuesday, Oct. 11, when officials charged him with two counts of rape of a child and one count of assault with intent to rape a child, the Boston Police Department said.

"We are disturbed by these alleged allegations against a department employee," said Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox in a news release. "The Boston Police Department remains committed to transparency and holds all of its employees accountable. The department is treating this investigation with the gravity it deserves.”

A judge arraigned Spiers on Wednesday and ordered him held on a $2,000 bail, reports said. Spiers may not have any contact with children, the judge ordered.

The Boston Police Crimes Against Children Unit is currently investigating, and the Bureau of Professional Standards is also investigating the accusations.
