New Mental Health Emergency Line Launched In Maryland

A new number has been launched over the weekend that replaces Maryland's 211 helpline, CBS reports.

The new number, 988, will serve to help those in need of support for a substance abuse or mental health crisis, and was officially launched Saturday, July 16, the outlet continues.

The service will work by area code, and will route callers based on their phone number rather than their location. People in need of help in Maryland calling with an out of state number with me routed to the state the number is tied to. To read the full CBS report, click here.
