Woman Wanted In Berks Assaults Police Officer In Central PA, Authorities Say

A woman who was wanted by police in Berks County has been charged with a felony, among other charges, for assaulting a police officer in Lancaster County.

Dayshia Alexis Alston, 22, of Ephrata, arrested in Lancaster County on Wednesday just before 1 p.m.

Northern Lancaster County Regional Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle Alston was driving in the 200 block of Owl Hill Road near the intersection of Pierson and Rudy Dam roads.   

Her license was suspended and police learned of a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear in court in connection to charges related to a public fight in Berks County.

While under arrest Alston, "became combative and scratched one of the officers who sustained a bleeding injury to his hand," NLCRPD said in a statement on Thursday.

Officers were able to "gain control" of her and file the following charges:

  • F2 Aggravated Assault - Attempts to cause or causes Bodily Injury to designated individuals
  • M2 Simple Assault
  • M2 Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforce
  • S Driving While Operator Privilege Suspended Or Revoked
  • S Turning Movements And Required Signals

She was held overnight in the Lancaster County Prison and released on a $5,000 bond.

Her preliminary hearing has been scheduled with Magisterial District Judge Edward A. Tobin on Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m.

No update on her charges in Berks County has been released.

The injured officer received first aid and resumed his duties the same day as the incident.
