Long Island Duo Nabbed After Victim Finds Stolen Bicycle Being Sold On Online App, Police Say

Two Long Island men were arrested after a victim found a stolen bicycle for sale on an online app, said police.

The owner of a BMX bicycle that was stolen from a home in Lindenhurst on Sunday, Oct. 18 reportedly found his stolen property listed for sale on the OfferUp app (formerly known as LetGo) later that day, said Suffolk County Police. 

Suffolk County detectives arranged to purchase the bicycle for $400, and determined that the bicycle in question belonged to the victim when meeting the sellers elsewhere in Lindenhurst at approximately 12:30 p.m on Monday, Oct. 19.

Roommates Michael McFarland, 27, and Shaun Cohen, 25, were both charged with the misdemeanor of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
