RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Alfred C. Zitz, of Rhinebeck, died Thursday, Aug. 25. He was 91.
He was born June 27, 1925, in Rhinebeck, the son of Jerry P. and Catherine (Cheresna) Zitz Sr. The family had a farm in Rhinebeck, where he worked for many years before he began working for the Rhinebeck Water Department. Following his retirement he was a truck driver for Paul Matthies.
He was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Post #429, Fitzpatrick Chapman V.F. W., Northern Dutchess Rod & Gun Club and the NRA.
He is survived by his sister, Molly VanHavere; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Funeral services will be at noon at the funeral home followed by interment with full military honors by Montgomery Post #429 at the Veteran's Section of Rhinebeck Cemetery.
