17 Former Boy Scouts Sue Ridgefield Scoutmaster, Allege Sex Abuse

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Seventeen former Boy Scouts have filed a lawsuit against their former Scoutmaster in Ridgefield, alleging he sexually abused them on camping trips and outings from 1963 to 1975, according to the Hartford Courant.

The plaintiffs' lawyer said it was the largest single lawsuit filed against Boy Scouts of America and said one child was molested more than 1,000 times, the Hartford Courant said.

In addition to the 17 former Scouts, the lawsuit, filed in Superior Court in Stamford, alleges the now-deceased Scoutmaster also sexually assaulted two girls, the Hartford Courant said.

Donald Dennis, the Scoutmaster, died two years ago, the Hartford Courant said.
