The historic mural was produced in coordination with the Eastchester Historical Society, which oversaw the production of the artwork.
The work of art includes Stewart Manor, the Old Red School House, Gramatan Hotel, Fischer’s Tavern and the Marble School House.
Elanor Willets, the president of Wells Fargo in New York, said that the 19-foot by 16-foot mural signifies the branch’s dedication to the area it now calls home.
“When we opened our store in Eastchester last year, we promised to be an active part of the community,” she said. “This mural can be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.”
In addition to the grand unveiling of the locally produced mural, the Wells Fargo branch also donated a $5,000 grant to the Tuckahoe-Eastchester Girl Scouts to support a restoration of its historic cabin.
"The mural captures Eastchester’s history stretching back to the 19th century,” Annmarie Flannery, the president of the Eastchester Historical society, said. “Many people aren’t aware that Eastchester is considered to be the birthplace of the Bill of Rights. Thanks to our partnership with Wells Fargo, this information and many other pieces of information are brilliantly displayed.”
