Agency Gets Grant for Emergency Help

Winter can be the harshest time of year for those who lack basic necessities. Person-to-Person, through its Emergency Assistance Program, seeks to provide a safety net of food, clothing and financial assistance to residents of Stamford and other lower Fairfield County municipalities in need.

The Darien-based agency recently received a $12,000 grant from the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County's Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative.

"With this grant we were able to provide assistance to the many who came to us for help last year – from the families with limited incomes that struggle to make ends meet, to the families that are struggling through a financial crisis due to economic conditions," Person-to-Person Executive Director Ceci Maher said in a statement. Stamford residents who are facing special hardships this winter can call Person-to-Person at (203) 655-0048 for information about assistance options.
