Environmental Groups Host Forum On Defending Healthy Trees In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Fund for the Environment, the Bartlett Arboretum, the Connecticut Forest and Park Association, and the Connecticut Tree Wardens Association is inviting the public to “Defending Your Town’s Healthy Trees,” a public presentation and forum on utility tree trimming in Stamford.

Trees are a crucial piece of Connecticut's charm, and are one of the principal reasons the state’s citizens enjoy a high quality of life, the sponsors said. Trees also provide many additional benefits to the communities and environment.

Join the Connecticut Fund for the Environment and partners and learn what your town and citizens can do to protect healthy, structurally sound trees from planned utility tree trimming programs.

Presenters will include: JoAnn Messina, Greenwich Tree Conservancy; Mary-Michelle Hirschoff, Garden Club of New Haven; Jack Healy, Tree Wardens Association of Connecticut; Chris Donnelly, Division of Forestry, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection; Zack Bestor, Connecticut Fund for the Environment; Colleen Murphy-Dunning, Urban Resources Institute; Eric Hammerling, Connecticut Forest and Park Association; and Aris Stalis, Aris Land Studio

The event will be Thursday, June 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford.
