All proceeds benefit Connecticut Veterans Legal Center, which helps veterans recovering from homelessness and mental illness overcome legal barriers to housing, healthcare, and income.
Point72 Asset Management, L.P. (Point72), a family office headquartered in Stamford, donated $20,000 to THE RIDE for the title sponsorship of the event for the third consecutive year.
Team Point72 raised more than half of the 2015 fundraising total of $140,000.
THE RIDE attracts a mix of veterans, corporate teams, local cycling clubs, and ordinary cyclists who want to ride in support of veterans. Organizers anticipate more than 100 cyclists will participate this year.
Cyclists can choose from 25, 50, and 100 mile routes, starting and ending at Point72’s Stamford headquarters at 72 Cummings Point Road. There will also be a family-friendly 5K ride and walk.
Point72 will also host a post-race celebration for riders, volunteers, and spectators.
“This ride is our way of thanking Connecticut veterans for their service. They have protected our country and put themselves at risk, and we are honored to help them by supporting THE RIDE For Our Vets,” said Perry Boyle, Managing Director and Head of Equities at Point72.
“I know this year’s event is going to be a great experience for everyone who joins us. We’re especially excited to be hosting the event at Point72 this year, allowing us to cover some new territory on the route and also host a great celebration for everyone who participates,” said Michael Towey, Managing Director and Sector Executive at Point72.
Cyclists must raise a minimum of $200.
There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum for veterans who ride.
