Comedy Night Comes To Italian Club Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Italian Club of Stamford will host a comedy night on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. in the grand ballroom.

The event will be hosted by Stamford’s Michael “Motts” Pelazza and will feature comics Mike Gaffney and Melvin George II.

“We are delighted to host our second Italian Center Comedy Night comprised of such a fine line-up of entertainment for our audience,” said Paul Hickey, executive director. “This is just one of the many exciting events that we offer to our members and the community.”

Gaffney was a semifinalist on NBC’s "The Last Comic Standing," Season 8. He has appeared on "The Artie Lange Show Direct TV," was on the first season of "Gotham Comedy Live" as well as "The Best of Gotham Comedy Live AXS TV," and "30 Rock" on NBC. He has had rave reviews in both the Examiner and Reality Rewind. He is a regular performer at some of the best clubs in and around New York City.

George II made his comedy debut in his hometown of Boston and soon after moved on to a successful career in New York City. A trained actor and director, he used his theatrical training as a member of “The Kitchen Table Comedy Team” making appearances at Carnegie Hall and The Village Gate.  

He has appeared in concert with such celebrated artists as Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Roberta Flack, Patti LaBelle, Stephanie Mills, Ashford & Simpson, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson and Isaac Hayes. He has been nominated for a National Campus Entertainment Award for comedy among colleges and been seen in the films Mo’ Better Blues, Meteor Man and Behind the Smile.  He has also performed on HBO, Showtime, Fox and A&E.

Pelazza has been performing as a comedian for over 35 years. He has worked with the award winning sketch and improvisation groups, The Players and Comedy Express, throughout New York and Connecticut, as well as comedy festivals in Texas. He has performed with Kevin Nealon, Kevin Meaney, Gilbert Gottfried, Rich Voss and Patrice O'Neal.

Comedy Night is open to the public. Tickets are $35 for members of the Italian Center and $45 for non-members. Tickets include light appetizers, coffee and dessert. Patrons may bring their own alcoholic beverages.
