Author Compares Faith In Stamford And Saigon In Library Talk

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford native, author and former Roger Williams University President Roy Nirschel will present, "From Stamford to Saigon: A Tale of Two Multifaith Cities,” at the Ferguson Library on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Nirschel will discuss his experiences in Saigon while starting The American University of Vietnam, of which he is founding president.

Nirschel, a Stamford High School Class of 1970 graduate, has spent his recent years in post-war Vietnam discovering "multi-cultural and engaging stories" while there.

He earned a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Miami in 1997, writing on “Charitable Giving: Obligation or Option.” In addition to journal articles, he most recently published a book, "My Seasons in Saigon." Keenly interested in interfaith exploration, he is a founding director of the Foundation for Universal Spirituality.

Nirschel's lecture is presented by the Ferguson Library and the InterFaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut.

The Ferguson Library is located at 96 Broad St. at Bedford Street in downtown Stamford.
