Westy Self Storage in Stamford has donated use of the Westy truck to help transport items to the annual event.
“We are very proud to again support Swim Across America,” said Joe Schweyer, District Director of Westy Self Storage, Stamford location. “Their dedication and drive is exemplary.”
Swim Across America is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, Swim Across America is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.
“During the past seven years, Westy Self Storage has been an invaluable partner for Swim Across America's Greenwich-Stamford Swim. Thank you Westy for helping us make waves to fight cancer,” said Lorrie Lorenz, Co-Chair, Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford Swim.
The 2015 Greenwich-Stamford Swim raised more than $350,000 for the local beneficiary, the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, the only national nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to funding cancer cell and gene therapy research.
The goal for 2016 is to make this year even bigger and better by raising $400,000.
Westy’s encourages swimmers and volunteers to join the festivities and support this year’s swimmers at the 10th annual Greenwich-Stamford Open Water Swim on Saturday, June 25, at 96 Cummings Point Road, Stamford.
The Greenwich-Stamford Swim includes swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Participants choose their open-water distance: half-mile, 1.5 miles or 3 miles. They also offer opportunities to volunteer as a boater, kayaker or land volunteer.
All proceeds from the swim benefit the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy.
